Hybrid in the Larger Scheme of Things

Had an interesting conversation with Ed Moura of Hybrid today.
He said that TCI (John Malone's cable company) has a beta test of Hybrid
either running or about to run on cable channels in 3 cities in the San
Francisco Bay area.  If I understood him correctly, ARPA is funding them
because it sees this technology as being the on ramps and off ramps for
National Information Infrastructure.  Which is what Malone has said TCI will
provide.  TCI is also beta testing the DEC technology mentioned here earlier
today.
