2    >NUS: computer accounts for all undergrads<

(ST 6 July) NUS wants all its students to be computer literate.
It has made it mandatory for undergrads to have a computer
account. All first year students have to attend a one hour
briefing on the computer system. The policy is aimed at
propelling NUS towards IT 2000, a government blue print to
transform Singapore into an intelligent island by the end of the
decade. The $10 computer account gives students access to Nusnet,
an $8 mil campus wide network which links 4000 computers across
8 faculties.
