Subject: Road to Police State
New York Times Letter to the Editor July 6, 1993 To the Editor: What is the purpose of all this "telecommunications highway" technology? To get a message a few minutes sooner? To play more games? Will we eat better? Make love better? Raise our children better? Electronic networks will make us even more vulnerable to madmen, and the gadgetry will ultimately be used by Government for surveillance of the citizenry. The telecommunications highway is a road to a police state. Jim Weaver Eugene, OR
