Neat way to invest in a future business .. call it charity


DATA NETWORK. Northern Telecom, IBM, MCI, and Merit have formed an alliance
to develop technology to improve the performance of the national data
highway. As part of the agreement, Telecom will donate $5 million to ANS,
which manages the NSFnet with Merit. The gift matches earlier contributions
