Subject: Los Angeles Phone Fire Update


This is just a short, special mailing to the list to bring you up to
date on the fire in the telephone CO in Los Angeles.


The report is that the fire started as the result of an explosion in
a power room at the CO accidentally caused by an AT&T crew working
there. Apparently -- and you can't really blame them -- everyone on
location split the scene pretty fast when it started. Some critical
parts of the network, including the Priority Repair office for the
region were knocked off line. Several long distance carriers are
reporting inability to process traffic through Los Angeles and the
affected area.
