Stanford University's U.S.-Japan Technology Management Center
announces a one-day conference on


THE FUTURE OF JAPAN'S NATIONAL INFORMATION INFRASTRUCTURE (NII)


Date:    October 5, 1994  (Wednesday)
Place:   Palo Alto Holiday Inn
Time:    8:30am to 6pm


Japan is racing to develop next-generation broadband technologies
for its National Information Infrastructure (NII) that will be crucial
for enhancing its global competitiveness in the 21st century. The
Japanese government is taking an active role in forging plans for
its information superhighway and considering ways to cooperate
with the United States in developing the Global Information
Infrastructure (GII).


Stanford University's U.S.-Japan Technology Management Center
is pleased to sponsor this conference which will examine the status
of Japan's Internet infrastructure and its plans for implementing
broadband information networks.


Distinguished speakers from Japanese ministries and corporations
will discuss government plans, industry consortia, regional testbeds,
corporate programs, database, data security, software, and emerging
applications being developed for business, education, health care,
and local government. U.S. managers doing business in Japan will
discuss opportunities for foreign companies.
