The $1 to $2 per hour is an interesting figure.  That's roughly the
same figure I came up with 30 years ago as the cost of dates.  More
precisely, I found that dating cost me about $1/hr/person.  This held
true for casual evenings and full weekends.  Considering the inflation
since then, entertainment has become a real bargain.
