Registration applications are honored in the order of their requests. If YOUR name has already been taken, you can choose another name, or you can buy the rights, or you can try legal proceedings. Adam Curry is being sued for registering mtc.com. Also registered are names such as coke.com, nasdaq.com, and windows.com. However, the laws are as yet unclear on net addresses.
