I tell him my SF world has no Soviet Union; it fell apart without a major war. China is a communist state with a capitalist economy. The US is the world's biggest debtor nation. Washington DC is the murder capital of America. Germany has become a united nation while Yugoslavia has broken into little bits. Lech Valesa has become the widely ridiculed president of a free Poland. The US has recently fought a high-tech war in Iraq that left its dictator in place and restored a feudal aristocracy to power in Kuwait. Guess what kind of reaction my editor would have given me. - -- Crawford Kilian Communications Department Capilano College North Vancouver BC Canada V7J 3H5 Usenet: Crawford_Kilian@mindlink.bc.ca Internet: ckilian@cln.etc.bc.ca ------- end -------
