Dear Colleagues:


If you have a course pack for your class that contains copies of
papers that have appeared in IEEE publications, the following
may be of interest to you.


Pam at Dollar Bill has told me that IEEE now charges a royalty of
$1 per paper per student for including in a course pack a paper
published by them!


I called IEEE this morning to request a waiver for my course pack
for EECS 661.  I was told to fax a letter to
William Hagen at 908-981-8062.  His phone number is 908-562-3966.
(I was told he is hard to reach, hence the reason for faxing a
letter.)


According to Dollar Bill, I am not the only one who is faced with
this new IEEE policy.
If you have been able to reach William Hagen, please let me know what
he told you.
If you intend on faxing a request ot him, please let me know also.
If enough of us complain, we may be able to reverse this policy.
