Subject: the new congress and R&D
Date: Fri, 9 Dec 94 18:26:09 EST From: Clark Johnson <cjohnson@snap.org> To: interesting-people@eff.org (interesting-people mailing list) When I worked in the congress, only 2% of staff and 3 (of 535) congress people had science or engineering degrees. After the new folks take over that number will approach zero. George Brown (chair of House Sci. Comm.) will be replaced by Bob Walker whose main claim to fame in 1988-89 time frame when I was there was an amendment eliminating any R&D govt. funding to any campus that had a drug conviction. -clark johnson
