IP: Commercial Domains Pass 100,000 Mark

As of Sept 8, 1995 there were over 118,000 domains registered with InterNIC.


Here's the breakdown


    .com     101,908
    .org       8,990
    .net       5,694
    .edu       2,030
   total     118,622




In the two weeks ended Sept. 8th, Politicians and Pornographers showed
up heavily in the registration lists.  Newt, Alexander, Bradley and
(can you believe it!) Quayle got .org domains for their respective
campaigns.  Four porno publishers registered 41 of their titles as
domains.  I may be too harsh prejudging these works as pornographic.
