IP: ITU honours Vint Cerf

I'm pleased to inform you that on Saturday 7 October 1995,
during the Internet@Telecom95 Forum organised by the ITU,
Dr Pekka Tarjanne (Secretary-General of the International
Telecommunication Union) presented the ITU Silver Medal
to Dr Vinton G Cerf, in recognition of his outstanding
contribution to the development of the Internet. Vint Cerf
accepted the medal on behalf of the thousands of people
who have worked to build the Internet.


The ITU Medal is generally reserved for Heads of State.


The present and immediate past IAB chairs attended
the presentation of the medal.


Incidentally, about 2000 people attended the Internet@Telecom95
Forum. Its proceedings will be available shortly via
