Subject: IP: FCC Commissioner Chong's Speech in Tokyo
Date: Thu, 05 Oct 1995 10:19:29 -0400 From: Michael Marcus <MMARCUS@fcc.gov> FCC Commissioner Rachelle Chong, the first Asian-American to be appointed to the FCC, recently visited Tokyo and spoke at the Financial Times Symposium in Tokyo on 9/28. Her speech was entitled "The Role of Competition in Promoting the National and International Information Infrastructure" and discusses the US experience with telecommunications and possible implications for the NTT situation. (Baseball fans will also appreciate the sports metaphors and discussion of the Nomo phenomenon. Sports metaphors are often used in speeches by senior American government officials.) It can be found on the Web at: http://www.fcc.gov/Speeches/Chong/sprbc506.txt Also reachable by anonymous ftp at ftp@fcc.gov, look for /pub/Speeches/Chong/sprbc506.txt Would appreciate any comments. Mike Marcus/ FCC
