It may be of note that the US domain (the two letter country code for
the United States) often dismissed as a minor element in the domain
name system is now the 6th largest domain in the world, and has over a
million hosts in it.


It is also interesting that the US domain is way down the list when the
count is restriced to only second and third level domains.  This is
because the US domain is more structured that most domains, and in the
US domain most of the hosts are found at the 4th, 5th, or even 6th
levels.
