Seems this sort of fine-grained lawyerin' has been in the works for a while.
Check out the article references below. Basically, one prime assertion is that
if you link way down into a advertising-supported site (for example) and thus
bring readers to the site and facilitate their missing the advertising they
would otherwise have seen, then you're infringing on the target site's owner's
(copy)rights -- so says a couple of recent court decisions, apparently. 


There was an in-depth article about precisely this in Intel. Property Today (I
thought) but I can't find that exact one (I've sent a a query to IP Today
about it). The articles below from IP Today and Wired News are solidly in this
vein, though.
