Subject: Internet Censorship Bills Move in both House and Senate

A new version of Senator Coats' Internet censorship bill (S. 1482) was
added to the Internet Tax Freedom Act (S. 442) by a vote of 98-1 today.
Senator Leahy was the lone dissent although Senator Burns spoke out against
the amendment. An amendment from Senator Dodd was also added which would
force ISPs to provide filtering tools to parents for free. The tax bill,
which also includes children's privacy and digital signature amendments, is
expected to pass today.

Representative Oxley's Child Online Protection Act (H.R. 3783) is also
expected to come to the floor in the House today.
