Subject: IP: For Philly IPers -- Second Distinguished Lecture - February 24



        David Farber, the Alfred Fitler Moore Professor of Telecommunication
Systems, will be this year's second speaker in Penn Engineering's
Technology, Business and Government Distinguished Lecture Series.  

        He will be speaking on "The University in the Information Age -- A
Technologist's Look at the Future Directions in Computing and
Communications and It's Impact on the University."

        Please join us next week.

        Professor Farber has been active in telecommunications issues ranging from
high-speed and active networks to freedom and privacy on the Internet.  He
serves on the Board of Directors of the Electronic Frontier Foundation and
is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Internet Society.  He was a
recipient of the 1996 John Scott Award.  David Farber recently testified in
the Microsoft case.

        There will be an opportunity for questions following his talk and a chance
to meet him during the reception.
