Subject: IP: To understand Afganistan read Engels [seems the Russians did not, hmm djf]
From: "Alberto Rizzo" <arizzo@akamai.com> To: <farber@cis.upenn.edu> Dave: I found a very interested article on Afghanistan written by Frederick Engels in 1857. This could help to understand how difficult an invasion could be. Also explains why the English failed twice to invade them. Also will support the analysis made to Le Monde by a Russian veteran on Afghanistan, Evgueni Zelenov: "Afghanistan is not Iraq nor Yugoslavia, It's not a plain nor a desert, but a group of mountains accesses only by prohibited, chemical or biological arms". http://marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1857/afghanistan/index.htm Alberto Rizzo
