Subject: IP: Earthlink to purchase OmniSky

YadaYada is shutting down and, now, OmniSky has just announced that
Earthlink will purchase its assets. OmniSky service will continue from
Earthlink, and OmniSky will file for Chapter XI. See:

My take: Companies that call themselves "Wireless Internet Service
Providers" or offer services called "wireless Internet" do so at their own
risk.

The American public wants wireless Internet, but it doesn't like the
definitions provided by the wireless data industry! Americans want good
coverage, data rates that are at least close to dial-up speeds and
reasonable pricing. WAP and CDPD are **not** wireless Internet, at least
not the way most consumers think about it.

If you advertise your service as "wireless Internet," you had better be
prepared to fulfill your customers' expectations.
