Cingular Wireless yesterday announced a new joint venture with AT&T Wireless to establish a 2.5G GSM/GPRS network along U.S. interstate highways in the first quarter of 2003. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but both companies said they would contribute equal cash and spectrum space for the new network. The companies plan to operate the new network as joint venture, but each will market service under their respective brands. The two carriers say their network will be the first to offer 2.5G GSM/GPRS service along interstates running through Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, New Mexico, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah. http://seattle.bcentral.com/seattle/stories/2002/01/28/daily7.html http://www.newsbytes.com/news/02/174025.html For archives see: http://www.interesting-people.org/archives/interesting-people/
