Whatever form ICANN ultimately takes, it needs to be accountable to the public that uses the Net....and we believe the best mechanism is through an At-Large Membership that could provide policy input and elect At-Large Board members - who would themselves be accountable *and visible* in their activities and opinions. To join this movement (by pledging to be an active member when such a membership is formally created), please follow the steps below (from Pindar Wong). *right* now the best method is a two step process to build public visibility that the At Large is both underway and gathering support. Step: 1) subscribe to the at large forum ( so that you have permission to post) goto http://www.atlargestudy.org/cgi/forum_mj.cgi enter your email address and you've subscribed 2) Pledge 'something' (money, time, resources, participation, opinions or support) to forum@atlargestudy.org cc the email to Hans Klein hans.klein@pubpolicy.gatech.edu Esther Dyson >Date: Mon, 25 Feb 2002 05:03:33 -0500 >To: Jefsey Morfin <jefsey@wanadoo.fr> >From: Esther Dyson <edyson@edventure.com> >Subject: how to move forward >Cc: forum@atlargestudy.org > >this is the time not to castigate the board (or anyone else), but to >encourage them to do the right thing.
