An Investigator Speaks Out
Herbert Kroemer, winner of the IEEE's 2002 Medal of Honor and the
2000 Nobel Prize in Physics, was one of five members of the committee
that investigated allegations of scientific misconduct at Bell Labs.
The panel exonerated 20 coauthors of any misconduct, but struggled
with what responsibility they had for the veracity of research papers
they signed.
