Subject: [IP] Differing transatlantic perspectives
------ Forwarded Message From: Brian Randell <Brian.Randell@newcastle.ac.uk> Date: Wed, 19 Feb 2003 14:03:26 +0000 To: farber@cis.upenn.edu Subject: Differing transatlantic perspectives Dave: You've sent out some interestingly different media perspectives on the present political situation from the two sides of the Atlantic recently. I wonder how/whether the major US newspapers have covered the latest news about the WTO - here today's (UK) Guardian newspaper has a front page article headed "Bush blocks deal allowing cheap drugs for world's poor". See: http://www.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,3604,898527,00.html However, I should mention that, in contrast, the (London) Times, which is about as far to the right on the UK political spectrum as the Guardian is to the left, does not seem to have carried anything on this story as yet. cheers Brian -- School of Computing Science, University of Newcastle, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 7RU, UK EMAIL = Brian.Randell@newcastle.ac.uk PHONE = +44 191 222 7923 FAX = +44 191 222 8232 URL = http://www.cs.ncl.ac.uk/~brian.randell/ ------ End of Forwarded Message ------------------------------------- To unsubscribe or update your address, click http://v2.listbox.com/member/?listname=ip Archives at: http://www.interesting-people.org/archives/interesting-people/
