Let's see, Saddam
- uses power drills to torture those he doesn't like;
- rapes women and children in front of their families;
- kills his own subjects and others with poison gas;
- beheads people who speak against his dictatorship;
- runs a dictatorship based on fear; and
- does not allow any of basic human rights including freedom from fear,freedom of assembly, freedom of speech and freedom of the press.
{I believe he did that when we supported him also djf}
Dave, for what you have published over the last couple of weeks, had you been in Baghdad, at a minimum you would be rotting in jail.
I'll take Bush and America any day. The Pope and France don't have and will never have a veto over my security { I agree, the issue is just what is the security threat from iraq, the timing of it and the relative importance against N. Korean and an atomic iran djf}

Lest we forget: this same Pope also opposed the last Gulf War as well, which
admonishment was (blessedly) ignored, for which I am sure the Kuwaitis are
thankful.
For those of us uneasy about this war, we'd better have a more powerful
argument than the Pope.
