One of the criticisms of Vonage is that they "lock-down" the Cisco
ata-186 VOIP adapter they give you to use. If you purchase a ata-186
($150 or so on eBay) you can subscribe to multiple PSTN-gateway VOIP
services (like deltathree/iconnecthere) and have "redundancy" on your
phone -- advantage of the stupid network and more-capable endpoints.

But yes, keep your cellphone too for when your Internet connection
goes down!
