There is no information in the article. Presuming that the incident happened as described, it could have been any number of things, and a bug in the embedded OS is hardly the most likely. Immediately placing the blame at the doorstep of the embedded OS manufacturer for this incident is no different than immediately concluding that the reason your desktop computer froze is due to a hardware bug in the microprocessor. It's possible, but not the first line of investigation. As much as bashing Microsoft is the modern day sport of kings, Occam's razor remains a useful tool.
