Subject: Norwegian Number Portability for GSM

Record number of Norwegian mobile users switch carriers

Oslo (NTB) Last November, it became posssible to change your mobile
carrier in Norway, while maintaining the same number. (Ole: The
much-discussed "number portability" not yet avaialable in all of the US).

Last month, a total of 38,144 users swicthed. In total, around 440,000
subscribers in Norway have taken advantage of this option, according to
the post and telecommunications authority (PTT).

At PPT's website, telepriser.no, users can compare carriers' prices for
fixed, mobile and Internet services. Users can also find advice on what to
consider when choosing a telecom carrier at the same website.
