This may be interesting for IP: With help from Akamai's network
monitoring centre, Wired provide a fascinating insight, in layman's
terms, to how the Slammer worm brought the net to a standstill in a few
short minutes.

Definitely worth checking the page out for the graphics which show the
propagation and effect of the worm (I am not copying the text since it
doesn't make much sense without the graphics).
