METI to host hacker contest to foster qualified engineers

TOKYO ? The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) said Wednesday it
will host an unconventional event in August ? a contest for young computer
hackers ? to foster qualified engineers.

METI said it will hold the event at a Tokyo hotel on Aug 11 and 12. The
contest will involve youths competing with each other using their computer
skills to invade security-shielded computers while protecting their own from
attacks. (Kyodo News)
