Power outage hits New York area

NEW YORK - A power outtage hit the New York City area Thursday afternoon, 
affecting areas from Long Island to Westchester County.

"We have no idea how extensive it is," said an official with the Office for 
Emergency Management.

City Hall is operating on a backup generator and has power.

The power outage is also affecting Detroit, Cleveland, Ottawa, and Toronto.
