"Security issues" -- in that it's more difficult for governmental 
authorities to wiretap a VoIP packet stream -- that, instead of passing 
through a known set of trunk lines and switches, could be going through 
whatever happens to be the best routing path when the call flows begin. So 
it's security issues for the government, not the end-user ;-)
