Subject: Florida town to record all license plate numbers; check drivers
To: dave@farber.net

According to the AP, Manalapan, FL, is planning on setting up
cameras to read the license plate numbers and photograph the drivers
of all cars entering town. (The driver cameras are already in
place, but they're going to be upgraded.) Software will check the
plate numbers against assorted law enforcement databases. Besides
that, "if there is a robbery, police will be able to comb records
to determine who drove through town on a given afternoon or evening."

No mention of telescreens in the article...
