The 49.7 day expiry sounds like rollover of the number of milliseconds
since boot, as returned by the Windows API GetTickCount(). This is a
problem in the application software, rather than the operating system.

On the other hand, in the early 90's using GetTickCount() was
recommended. Dealing with rollover was tricky - we incorporated code
from Microsoft into our financial software to handle rollover
correctly.
