The OpenWRT open source firmware for Linksys WRT54G & similiar Broadcomm-
derived routers has been able to do that for over a year, and Sveasoft's Alchemy/Talisman branch for several months (albeit not yet with full UI support). The difficulties, as before, lie in the fact that the only way for 99% end users to obtain IPv6 connectivity is via IPv6 tunnels, such as SixXS, with POPs at local ISPs, and lots of hassle with obtaining enough uptime credits to get tunnels and subnets approved, as well as configuring the router properly. That song and
dance is far from trivial, and will deter the bulk of the users. While OSses, whether from Redmond, Cupertino, or *BSD/Linux by now fully support IPv6, the end of NAT in absence of even minimal firewall rules is probably not that hot an idea.

This removes the need for "NAT" translation and can in fact make every device in your home have a public IPv6 address (if such devices and computers support IPv6)."
