Google seems insensitive to the fact that they are loosing the  
respect of much of the community. I and others , have suggested  that  
they create a Privacy Board of external independant people who can  
help steer Google in better directions then it seems to be doing. So  
far NOTHING!!

Will all due respect, the furor about Google, Eric Schmidt, and
CNET misses the point.  Yes, CNET learned some information about
Schmidt.  I dare say that much the same information could have been
garnered via MSN Search or Yahoo or any of a number of other search
engines.

The real issue -- and this is, in fact, the real point of the CNET
article -- is how much data Google collects and retains about people,
data that's tied to personally-identifiable information for
people who register for things like gmail.  Is CNET being targeted
because they published data on Schmidt, or because they said the
emperor -- emperors, really; they note that A9, MSN, Yahoo, etc.,
have similar issues -- have no clothes.
