In a case where someone is accused of joining al-Qaida and plotting to
assasinate President Bush, the judge is in possession of important
evidence for the defense, turned over to him by the prosecution.   
However,
the defendant's lawyers do not have security clearances, so he can't
give it to them.  In fact, one of the lawyers was turned down for a
clearance, reason as yet unknown.
