Westchester County, NY, is thinking of banning unsecured wireless
base stations:

Although a nice sentiment, I think it is actually unlikely to help
security in any significant way -- it seems like a pretty bad idea,
frankly. There is also the question of whether a county can legally do
this -- a good argument can be made that this is a region where only
the FCC has jurisdiction.
