Using Core Duo Temp app, I get temperatures like up to 170 F. What level is dangerous to the chips etc

According to the Core Duo datasheet:

http://www.intel.com/design/mobile/datashts/309221.htm

The maximum junction temperature is 100 C. All modern processors will shut down before the chip is permanently damaged due to overheating. Continuous operation at high temperatures (e.g. 90 C) will reduce the life of a chip, but the lifetime is probably on the order of ten years anyway.
