I wonder what the specifics of the threat are – it seems to be an extremely wide ban for a threat that seems very specific. How does one decide when the threat is no longer present? Will flying through another country be a way to avoid this threat?
As to Boston and RomneyV2, here’s what’s on Logan’s site: http:// www.massport.com/about/press_news_airpor3.html. No mention of laptops. At the TSA site (http://tsa-7.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/tsa.cfg/ php/enduser/std_alp.php) they specifically say “TSA continues to allow laptop computers, cell phones and other electronic items.” There’s other info there, of course, though the site is a bit creaky.

This amounts to being sentenced to spend a trans-Atlantic flight watching television or movies, or listening to the airlines’ choice of listening matter. Shades of “1984”, where each citizen is required to own a television set, which it is illegal to turn off! Over reaction spreads ... “... Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney said that state’s National Guard has been activated to increase security at Logan International Airport outside Boston, the first such call-up since the Sept. 11 attacks. Passengers traveling through Logan may no longer bring aboard cell phones, laptop computers or iPods, as well as any liquids, Romney told a news conference in Boston... “Source: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news? pid=20601087&sid=aei.iEm4Qt0I&refer=home
