Begin forwarded message: From: Edward Hasbrouck <edward@hasbrouck.org> Date: August 29, 2006 3:13:47 PM EDT To: dave@farber.net Subject: (for IP) USA denies a citizen their right of returnThe USA has forbidden any airline from transporting to the USA a Mr. Jaber
Ismail, a natural-born USA citizen and California resident, not a dual citizen. They aren't saying they will arrest him or detain him forquestioning on arrival. They aren't asking the government of the country
he has been visiting to arrest him. But they won't let him come home. There's been some discussion of this as a Constirutional question, but it's actually much more fundamental as a question of international human rights law, including treaties which the USA has actually ratified: http://hasbrouck.org/blog/archives/001106.html ---------------- Edward Hasbrouck <edward@hasbrouck.org> <http://hasbrouck.org> 1130 Treat Ave., San Francisco, CA 94110, USA +1-415-824-0214consultant to The Identity Project (IDP), a program of the First Amendment
