Dave,

Newt demonstrates more than his police-state leanings and disrespect
for the founding principles of this country with that statement.
He also predictably shows his utter lack of understanding of the
international nature of the Internet and its technical realities.

Trying to block any particular speech on the Internet only drives it
underground to widely distributed sites that become all the more
attractive for their "forbidden" nature. Even in China, where
Internet censorship is standard operating procedure, persons who
want to evade the restrictions can generally find ways to do so.

Newt is utterly off base -- as usual. Say goodnight, Newt.

Gingrich Says Government May Have To Limit Free Speech In Terror War

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich used a New Hampshire event
dedicated to
freedom of speech to say the United States will have to re-examine that
constitutional right as it fights terrorism.

Speaking in Manchester Monday night, Gingrich said the country< may
need a
different set of rules to reduce terrorists' ability to use the
Internet and
free speech to recruit and get out their message.
