when "Windoze Automagic Update" was first announced,
some people with painful experience tried hard to make
the point that this seemed like a Really Bad Idea because of
the potential for abuse by the untrustworthy.

At the time, the trade rags decried that view as
paranoid cynicism.

Now that it's clear it is indeed being abused, and by MS
no less, it is hysterically ironic to see the same rags
complaining about how it has been abused.

To steal a line from Ben Franklin:

	"Those who would sacrifice system security for
	convenience deserve neither."
