Now, fingerprinting is one thing, but the new French government is  
pushing beyond that. Many immigrant visas are granted to the children  
of citizens, or legal immigrants. There was a fear that this would be  
abused. To curb that, consulates can now ask for DNA tests, to verify  
that the visas are indeed granted to the actual children!
