It's not quite passed: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120284273324062869.html?mod=googlenews_wsj Senate Approves Immunity For Telecoms in Wiretapping By COREY BOLES February 12, 2008 4:24 p.m. snip The result of the votes on an amendment to the controversial Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act makes it increasingly likely that phonecompanies will receive retroactive immunity from civil lawsuits. The vote was 67-31 against removing the immunity provision. The Senate is expected
to hold a vote on the full bill later Tuesday. Even if the final Senate bill includes immunity, the matter will have to be decided at a meeting between leaders of both houses of Congress to resolve differences over legislation. Last year, the House approved legislation which made no mention of immunity, and the clock is ticking. The FISA law expires Feb. 15. snip
