Nice piece.

A lot of the themes, particularly those surrounding Licklider, are
covered wonderfully in "The Dream Machine: J.C.R. Licklider and the
Revolution That Made Computing Personal" by M. Mitchell Waldrop.  It's a
real walk down memory lane.
