The Legislative Counsel Committee of the Oregon State Legislature has
voted unanimously to waive assertions of copyright on the Oregon
Revised Statutes.  I was very impressed with how well prepared and
informed members and staff were and with how well executed the
hearings were.

We will be looking at similar assertions by other states and for
assertions of copyright over other types of codes, such as local
building codes.  If any of your readers are aware of actual disputes
(e.g., cease and desist letters or other formal actions), we would
appreciate hearing about them.
