Subject: Internet2 and NLR to provide bandwidth for GENI

Hi Dave:

Two press releases this morning that some folks might find of interest.  Both NLR
and Internet2 announced they are providing gigabits of bandwidth for GENI prototyping.  Recall that GENI
is an NSF-funded effort to build a national facility for advanced research in communications, networking,
distributed systems, cyber-security and networked services and applications.  The GENI Project
Office announced a last week that it had received $12M in funding for initial risk reduction prototyping and
plans to announce soon (late August) how it has awarded that money to subcontractors along with the
details of how the prototyping will be done.
