Subject: US Airways and Free Water

Not only does the TSA allow empty water bottles, a courteous security guard in Amsterdam this morning, took the bottle of water I inadvertently left in my bag and which I told him to pitch into the bathroom, emptied it, and brought it to me, empty, advising me I could refill it and take it onto the plane.

I was (a) on an international flight and (b) traveling in Business Class, so there was no water shortage, but he obviously didn’t want to me waste my money.

Airlines don’t take credit cards for food or drink purchases on board and if passengers (hundreds of whom commented on the WSJ article on paid water) insist on paying with $20 bills or pennies they will only inconvenience other passengers, not just airline staff.

The right way to approach this to for us to approach US Airways as a (very large) group and tell them we are going to avoid flying them when we can if they insist on such foolish and unproductive policies. Adding a dollar or two to airfares would make much more sense.
