If I build a house the architect can't tell me what to put in it. If I buy a car I can modify it, drive it anywhere I like and drive who I like. A company that produces and supplies operating systems should not be able to censor what goes on them (apart from malicious software that will cripple the users experience in some way without the user explicitly asking for it). Isn't that important? Isn't it quite simple? Should MS be able to refuse Open Office? and so on? It appears that the FCC is considering regulating software applications and their ability to run on computing platforms. Think about the implications of this! Yes, some folks may not like Apple determining what will run on the iPhone. But would you rather have the government determine what software you can or cannot run? And by what statute is the FCC authorized to do such a thing? frode hegland The Hyperwords Company Ltd. 59 Brewer Street, London W1F 9UN United Kingdom |
